Odisha: New CM Mohan Majhi holds his office from guest house as CMO undergoes makeover work

Bhubaneswar: With the shift of power in Odisha from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), officials of the state government have started working on renovation of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and official chambers of the new ministers.

Sources in the Lok Sabha, the state secretariat, said refurbishment work is going on in the CMO after Naveen Patnaik relinquished the CM post following defeat of his party in the recently held assembly elections in the hands of the BJP.

The new CM, Mohan Charan Majhi, will hold his office in the CMO after the renovation work is over.

At present, the State Guest House located in the vicinity of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, has been converted into the temporary office of the new Chief Minister.

Majhi was sworn in as the BJP’s new Chief Minister on Wednesday at a grand ceremony here at Janata Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and chief ministers of nine BJP-ruled states, among others.

On Thursday morning, the new CM, his Council of Ministers and other party leaders visited Srimandir, the abode of Lord Jagannath at Puri, and sought the blessings of the deity. In their presence, the four gates of Srimandir, which were closed for four years now, were reopened for the devotees.

On his return from Puri, the CM went straight to the State Guest House. There he met several government officers and leaders of different parties.
