'Silenced, Not Defeated': Chadha Slams AAP After RS Post Removal
Raghav Chadha alleged that his own party had sought to prevent him from speaking in Parliament.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha alleged that it had informed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to stop him from speaking in Parliament.
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Friday said he had been “silenced, not defeated”, a day after being removed as the party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.
In a video message, Chadha alleged that his own party had sought to prevent him from speaking in Parliament. “I would like to tell those who have snatched away my right to speak in Parliament to not take my silence for defeat. I am a river that can transform into a flood when the time comes. Jai Hind,” he said.
The AAP described his removal as a disciplinary measure, accusing him of not raising issues against the Centre and deviating from the party line. The party said he had avoided speaking on key matters, including the LPG crisis, and had declined to sign the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi said Chadha was “scared to speak against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” "The democracy and Constitution of the country are in danger, yet you failed to speak on issues such as rising LPG prices," she said.
Referring to the arrest of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in March 2024, she questioned his absence during protests. "We defended you then, saying you had undergone an eye operation and that is why you were not present. But today I want to ask that when Kejriwal was arrested, were you even then scared of the BJP?" she said.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said Chadha had gone against the party whip and termed his conduct as “compromised”, citing his stance on issues such as alleged voter deletions and protests in Parliament.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, “It is unfortunate to say that on several issues concerning the country, when a proposal comes against the CEC, Raghav Chadha does not sign it. In West Bengal, people’s voting rights are being taken away. In Delhi, we saw how the Election Commission was misused. When it comes to Punjab’s issues, he remains silent and says nothing.”
Responding to the criticism, Chadha said he had raised various public issues in Parliament, including concerns related to airport pricing, food delivery workers, food adulteration, toll charges, mobile data expiry and taxation. “Did I commit any offence?” he said, adding that he would continue to raise issues concerning the public.
The development reflects internal differences within the AAP over parliamentary conduct and party discipline.
