Telangana LS Poll Results: Majority of Turncoats Suffer Defeat

HYDERABAD: Only three defectors managed to win the Lok Sabha polls, while many lost with a record margin.

The Warangal contest was between two turncoats. Dr Kadiam Kavya who got the BRS ticket but defected to the Congress with her father, BRS MLA Kadiam Srihari. She won the seat with 2,20,339 votes against the BJP’s Aroori Ramesh, who had deserted the BRS at the last minute.

Another turncoat, Godam Nagesh, who switched to the BJP from the BRS in Adilabad, won by about 90,000 odd votes.

Sriganesh Narayan, who joined the Congress from the BJP, won the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly bypoll over Vamsha Tilak of the BJP.

Danam Nagender, BRS MLA, joined the Congress and was fielded from Secunderabad. He lost to BJP state president G Kishan Reddy by 49,944 votes. He is facing a disqualification notice from the BRS.

G. Ranjith Reddy from Chevella, who switched to Congress from the BRS, lost by 1.72 lakh votes to the BJP’s Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. At Malkajgiri, Congress candidate Patnam Suneetha Mahender Reddy, who ditched the BRS, lost to Etala Rajendar of the BJP by 3,91,475 votes.

BJP Nagarkurnool nominee P. Bharat Prasad, whose father B. Ramulu was a BRS MP, who defected after getting a ticket for his son, lost the poll against Dr Mallu Ravi of the Congress by 94,414 votes. R.S. Praveen Kumar, who deserted the BSP and got a BRS ticket at the last minute, was third in Nagarkurnool seat. Nalgonda BJP candidate Shanmapudi Saidi Reddy, earlier in the BRS, lost to the Congress’ Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy by a record 5,59,905 votes.
