Visakhapatnam: The distribution of postal ballots in the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency has been completed under the supervision of district election officer A. Mallikarjuna. The process, which was conducted in the presence of candidates, ensured the integrity and transparency of the counting of votes.
The postal ballots cast by employees through facilitation centres were initially stored in the ECE block of AU Engineering College. The votes were divided according to the Assembly constituencies and taken to the strong rooms allotted to each constituency under tight security on Sunday morning. The votes cast for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat in the Kota area were also brought from there on the same day.
The entire process was closely supervised by Mallikarjuna and was videographed as per the rules of the Election Commission. The distribution of postal ballots was a crucial step in the process of counting of votes, which is scheduled to take place on June 4.
Additionally, the ETPBS postal ballots sent by service voters were received at the district election officer’s office through the postal department and kept in a vault in the presence of the police. They were then taken by a special vehicle to the strong room of the AU in the presence of the candidates and sealed.
