Private Firm Employees Siphon Rs. 4.15 Crore by Altering QR Code

Hyderabad: Employees working in a private company that organises rental accommodation in Kondapur changed its payment QR code and collected Rs.4.15 crore in payments into their own accounts, police said. The complaint was lodged by Istara Parks Pvt Ltd, which operates a rental housing service for single employees under the name 'Coliving Properties'.

The Cyberabad economic offences wing (EOW) police, citing from the complaint, said the company collects rents from its customers online via payment QR codes, and the funds are directly deposited into the firm’s bank account. Fifteen employees of the company suggested their customers deposit the funds into personal accounts.

Within a few months, the employees diverted Rs.4.15 crore into their own accounts, the company said. The fraud was uncovered during an internal audit, and the management lodged a complaint with the EOW police seeking action against the accused.

EOW DCP K. Prasad said they are investigating the case, and will arrest the accused soon.

3 Held for Cheating Over 'Gulf' Jobs

Karimnagar: The Sircilla police arrested three persons for collecting money from people on false promises to find them employment in the Gulf. Police superintendent Akhil Mahajan identified the accused as Mohammad Mahabub of Sarampelli, Thangallapally mandal; Bondu Anjaiah of Rudrangi mandal; and Gurugalla Laxman of Narmala in Gambiraopet mandal.

The accused after collecting money gave the aspirants fake passports and job papers. The raids were led by Chandrasekhar at several places in Rajanna Sircilla district.

The SP appealed to the youth not to believe any agents and approach only licensed agencies and agents. If they were cheated by fake agents, they must reach out to the people immediately.
