Pro-BRS Police Officers Come Under the Scanner
Hyderabad: Despite the Congress government reshuffling senior police officers, the intelligence wing has reportedly found that some officials, especially those posted in the interior areas, who were loyal to BRS leaders were holding key posts.
Sources said that at least 30 such officers have been identified by intelligence officials, who have submitted a comprehensive list to the DGP office. Reportedly, these officers were being asked to mend their ways.
It is said that a senior officer working in a district had regular conversations with top BRS leaders. It came to light when the police refused to register a victim's complaint in a civil dispute, to favour a BRS leader. Similarly, Panjagutta police tried to save a BRS former MLA’s drunk son, who was involved in a road mishap. In that case, top officials responded quickly and suspended Panjagutta police personnel for alleged favoritism.
Intelligence officials initiated the process of identifying the officers based on the list of their visitors, call data and their earlier performance.
Sources said that senior decision-makers will take a call on handling the pro-BRS officers in the next few days. There is likelihood that they would be warned of transfers if they failed to make amends as regards their political leanings.
