Rahul Gandhi Attacks RSS, Alleges “Fake Nationalism” and “Servility in US”
In a post on X, Venugopal said, "Clear admission by a senior RSS leader - PM Modi is dancing to Washington's tunes.

Gandhi’s remarks came in response to a video of Madhav speaking at an event in the United States, where he suggested that India had agreed to stop buying oil from Iran and Russia and had also accepted higher tariffs imposed by the US. Madhav subsequently said the comments were made in error at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute in Washington.
The Congress leader said the commented reflected the true nature of the RSS, contrasting its domestic positioning with its alleged stance internationally. He dubbed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as “Rashtriya Surrender Sangh”.
In a post on X, Gandhi said, “Rashtriya Surrender Sangh. Farzi nationalism in Nagpur. Pure servility in the USA. Ram Madhav has only revealed Sangh’s true nature.”
The BJP and RSS have not responded to Gandhi’s remarks, but Madhav later issued a clarification, saying his earlier statements were “factually incorrect.” He stated that India had not agreed to stop importing oil from Russia and had, in fact, strongly opposed the imposition of steep tariffs by the United States.
In his clarification, Madhav said he was attempting to make a limited counterpoint during the discussion but acknowledged that his remarks were inaccurate. “What I said was wrong. India didn’t agree to stopping import of oil from Russia anytime. Also it vigorously protested 50 per cent tariff imposition. My apologies,” he said while sharing the video of the event.
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing Madhav’s remarks as an indication of the government’s foreign policy stance. Venugopal alleged that the Prime Minister was compromising India’s sovereignty and acting under US influence.
He said that India had previously maintained an independent position even during geopolitical pressures, but claimed that the current leadership had weakened that stance. Venugopal further stated that the developments raised questions about Modi’s authority to continue as Prime Minister.
