Saving Steel Plant is Top Agenda: Palla
Visakhapatnam: “Saving the Visakhapatnam steel plant from privatisation would be my main agenda,” said the MLA-elect from Gajuwaka, Palla Srinivasa Rao, who won the polls with the highest majority in the state.
Talking to the steel plant union leaders who felicitated him in Gajuwaka TD office on Thursday, Srinivasa Rao said 99 per cent of his efforts now would be on stalling privatization of the steel plant.
He said the sacrifices made by the people in the past for getting the steel plant should not go to waste. He said the state government would pressurize the central government in this respect.
He said the massive victory the people gave to the alliance partners indicated that they hoped the new government would protect the plant from privatization.
“Ganta Srinivasa Rao got the second highest majority as he quickly responded and resigned from the assembly in protest against the privatization. I got the highest majority as I took the initiative in launching an indefinite hunger strike,’’ Srinivasa Rao said.
He said he had already put in a word to Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan whom he met on Wednesday at Thadepalli and they assured him to take up the issue on priority basis.
Recognised union leaders Varasala Srinivas, D Adinarayana and KSN Rao were among those who felicitated Palla Srinivasa Rao.
