Six killed in Jabalpur accident after return from Maha Kumbh in MP

Karnataka residents’ jeep collides with private bus in Madhya Pradesh

Belagavi: Six people from Belagavi district lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a road accident near Sihora in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh while returning from Kumbh Mela.

The deceased have been identified as Balachandra (50), Sunil (45), Basavaraj (63), Basavaraj (49), Iranna (27), and Virupaksha (61). The injured, Mustak and Sadashiv, are receiving medical treatment.

According to preliminary reports, the vehicle carrying eight people from Gokak Taluk of Belagavi district collided with a bus while traveling back to Belagavi.

"They were returning from the Kumbh Mela when the incident occurred. We have coordinated with the DC of Jabalpur. They have arranged two ambulances and another vehicle. Halfway our vehicle will go and escort the mortal remains of the victims," Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan told Deccan Chronicle.

Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar expressed deep sorrow over the accident.

Praying for the peace of the departed souls, MP Jagadish Shettar has also sought divine strength for their families to bear this loss.
