Social Media Samaritan St. Broseph Empowers Abuse Victims

Hyderabad:

A social media Samaritan is making a big difference to the lives of many people who have been subjected to abuse and harassment.

Widely known as St. Broseph on platforms like Reddit, Twitter and Facebook, Dushyant Dubey helps individuals solve their problems both legally and mentally.
Dubey, who operates his social media accounts under the title “St_Broseph”, helps resolve civic issues, and those related to crimes, scams, harassment and sometimes even abuse. Netizens call him “The Batman” for his strong sense of justice and moral code.

When Deccan Chronicle asked him why undertook such activities, including very risky ones, Dubey said, “I don’t want people to be in a state of helplessness. I give them guidance, support and backing to help them get through rough situations.”

Dubey conducts his philanthropic services along with teams of volunteers named “St. Broseph Army”. Although he is based in Bengaluru, he runs his services in Hyderabad with a 500-member team of volunteers.
“I was very reluctant to bring volunteers on-board, as the work I do is very risky and even life-threatening. I get to deal with criminals and thugs, and I didn’t want to risk anyone’s life.

But slowly we got many likeminded volunteers. Within no time, we are a massive team”, he said.
One of the main goals of St. Broseph is to help people get out of troubled waters. Many victims of abuse and harassment do not know what steps to take or where to turn to. The team gives the victims clear and simple advice, and helps them with legal recourse, he explained.

Explaining the process of how he helps out, Dubey said that when someone posts their grievances online, he contacts the victim and gets the facts. Later, they will provide the victims with solutions.
Recently, a victim posted on Reddit about his abusive father. Dubey and his team helped the victim get out of the family and stay in a different city.

“We relocated the victim to a safe house in a different city. When he got out, the victim did not have anything but a pair of clothes. The victim’s abusive father didn’t allow him to study beyond seventh grade, We are currently educating him both knowledge-wise and skill-wise,” Dubey said.
“Currently we are working with officials from GHMC and take their advice and guidance while attending to civic issues. Our goal is to collaborate with all three commissionerates so that we can help our victims to get immediate and effective police help”, he said.
