Special Mental Health Support for Children in Disaster-Hit Areas
Thiruvananthapuram: Special mental health support and care will be ensured to all children in the disaster areas in the wake of the Wayanad landslide.
Health Minister Veena George said trained experts will provide the required services with the help of Tele Manas. A total of 137 councillors have been appointed to offer proper mental health care support to the affected people.
The services of the same counsellor have been ensured for further counselling of those diagnosed with mental health issues. The psychosocial team that will conduct house visits, will also include field workers.
The Minister also directed the authorities to ensure mental support to various employees, including health workers, and those engaged in disaster management activities. The minister also directed that the protocol for mental health support should be strictly followed before taking samples for DNA testing.
