SpiceJet flight diverted to Patna after cockpit windshield crack
Patna: A SpiceJet flight SG 2950, en route from Delhi to Shillong, was diverted to Patna on Monday after a crack was detected in the cockpit windshield. The flight, which had 80 passengers and crew on board, landed safely at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, according to officials.
SpiceJet confirmed the incident, stating, "On December 9, 2024, SpiceJet Q400 aircraft operating from Delhi to Shillong was diverted to Patna after a crack was observed in the windshield. It is important to note that the windshield has three layers, and only one layer of a specific window had a crack. The diversion was a precautionary measure, and the aircraft made a normal landing, not an emergency landing. Pressurisation remained normal throughout the flight, and passengers were deplaned without incident."
The aircraft has been temporarily grounded, and alternative arrangements have been made for the affected passengers. The flight, originally scheduled to depart from Delhi at 7:03 am and land in Shillong at 10:02 am, will require clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after the windshield is replaced before it can resume operations.
