Sri Rama Sene launches 'Love Jihad Helpline'

Mangaluru: Declaring to help Hindu girls from 'Love Jihad,' Sri Rama Sene launched a dedicated helpline in Karnataka on Wednesday.

The launch event of 'Love Jihad Helpline' was held in six places in Karnataka including Hubballi, Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Davangere, and Bagalkot.

"Our aim is to protect Hindu girls from falling prey to 'Love Jihad.' We have observed numerous cases where Muslim youths lure Hindu girls as a tactic to increase their population in our country. This is a dangerous trend which needs to be stopped," Sri Rama Sene founder Pramod Muthalik told Deccan Chronicle after the launch event.

The helpline team consists of a lawyer, a doctor, a woman, and two expert counselors.

"Often, people are hesitant to approach the police as they fear societal backlash, leading many incidents to go unreported. If victims or their family members call us, we will provide necessary assistance, including counseling. In cases where police intervention is required, we will collaborate with them. Our goal is to protect Hindu girls," Muthalik stated.

The team includes two experienced counselors who have handled several similar cases. "If necessary, we will introduce the victims to other girls who were once victims of 'Love Jihad' and have returned to Hinduism," he added.

Currently, calls to the helpline are directed to Hubballi, where activists collect details and notify the respective district presidents of Sri Rama Sene. The district team will then meet with the family members, assess the case, and seek help from Hubballi counselors or authorities as needed.

Sri Rama Sene also plans to establish a team of counselors in every district soon.

"No girl should become a victim of kidnap, murder, or suicide. We will also assist girls facing trouble from boys, regardless of their religion. However the main aim is to help Hindu girls from falling prey to Love Jihad," Muthalik added.
