Supreme Court refuses to postpone NEET-UG 2024 counselling

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to postpone the counselling process of the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) for admissions into undergraduate medical and dental courses that was scheduled on July 6.

The apex court was hearing a petition seeking the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024. The vacation bench of the Supreme Court seeking response of the National Testing Agency (NTA) on some fresh petitions had grouped them with similar pending cases that are listed on July 8.
The advocate, standing for one of the petitioners, had requested the court to postpone the counselling from July 6, citing that the Supreme Court had listed the petitions challenging NEET-UG 2024 on July 8.
Declining his request the Supreme court bench said, "Counselling is not open and shut. It is a process. That process commences on 6. It's not that everything is accepted...we are allowing time not to be lost, either by this side or that side."
