Tamil Nadu govt all set for embracing new criminal laws
Chennai: The State was gearing up for the implementation of the three new criminal laws, replacing the old IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, from July 1 and necessary training was being given to the members of the judiciary and police department, Chief Minister M K Stalin told the Assembly on Friday.
Replying to a question raised by Manithaneya Makkal Katchi member M H Jawahariullah on the new criminal laws, Stalin said the DMK had been opposing the laws since the beginning when they were framed.
As Jawahariullah himself pointed out, he had even written to the Union Government to postpone the implementation of the three laws – the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Saskshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – he said.
Now not only were the laws being implemented on July 1, even the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network Systems) software had been updated for the purpose, Stalin said.
