Teen Accused Of Abusing 180 Minors Faces Bulldozer Crackdown

Police arrested Ayaz on Tuesday and produced him before a court, which remanded him to seven days of police custody: Reports

MUMBAI: Local authorities in Amravati on Wednesday demolished alleged illegal portions of the house of Mohammad Ayaz, alias Tanveer, who has been arrested for sexually assaulting and recording obscene videos of nearly 180 minor girls. Officials from the Achalpur Municipal Council said the bulldozer action was taken after a prior notice against the illegal construction.

A team from the municipal council reached Ayaz’s house in the afternoon with a JCB and demolished the iron staircase attached to the side of the house. BJP MLA Pravin Tayade was present during the demolition, while a heavy police presence was deployed to maintain law and order.

“After we conducted an inspection, it was found that certain portions had been constructed illegally. Subsequently, the council issued a notice to the accused’s family regarding the encroachment. Accordingly, action was taken today using a bulldozer,” said an official.

Police arrested Ayaz on Tuesday and produced him before a court, which remanded him to seven days of police custody. Three more suspects, including one Uzer Khan, have also been arrested. According to police, Ayaz and Uzer have confessed to their crimes.

According to reports, the accused allegedly sexually exploited over 180 girls and made more than 350 obscene photos and videos viral. A case has been registered under Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO), and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act).

Police are probing multiple angles in the case, including organised pornography rackets, blackmail, and possible religious conversion. Amravati Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishal Anand has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct the investigation.

BJP leader and Member of Parliament Anil Bonde alleged that the case is not an isolated incident but the work of an organised gang. He said the network operated through groups on Snapchat and WhatsApp. “Examining CCTV footage from hotels in the Chikhaldara area could lead to a major revelation about this racket,” he said.

Mr. Bonde further claimed that the accused never attended college but joined coaching classes to target Class 11 and 12 students. He alleged that they spent significant amounts of money and used expensive motorcycles to impress girls, and called for an investigation into the source of their funds.

Maharashtra State Minorities Commission Chairperson Pyare Khan said a team from the commission will visit Achalpur. “The team will speak to people and assess the situation. We don’t want it to become a law-and-order issue,” he said.
