Transgender Persons Allege Denial of Boarding at PNBS
Vijayawada: A group of transgender individuals staged a protest at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada after they were allegedly prevented from boarding a bus bound for Visakhapatnam.
The protest ended after police intervened and allowed them to board the bus. Social media videos show the transgender individuals arguing with police personnel at the bus station. According to reports, the group arrived at PNBS intending to travel to Visakhapatnam.
Contacted by reporters, Krishna Lanka inspector A. Murali Krishna said police were unaware of any specific incident involving denial of boarding.
However, inspector Krishna acknowledged the possibility that police may have intervened if the transgender individuals were attempting to collect money from passengers in a forceful manner, which is a violation of bus station regulations.
