Türkiye is expecting Indian tourists’ footfall to grow by around 20 per cent by the end of this year.

Kolkata: Türkiye is expecting Indian tourists’ footfall to grow by around 20 per cent by the end of this year. Deputy Director General for Promotion of Türkiye ministry of culture and tourism, Onur Gözet, shared the estimate on Monday.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of a six-city roadshow by Türkiye ministry of culture and tourism and Türkiye tourism promotion and development agency in Kolkata.
Mr. Gözet told this newspaper, “India is one of the most tourism generating countries globally. It is specially important market for us also. Last year 3,30,000 Indian tourists visited Türkiye. This accounted for a growth rate of 20% compared to 2023. We hope to maintain the same pace this year also.”
He added that Russia, Germany and United Kingdom have been the top three countries from where Türkiye attracts travelers the most.
The Turkish delegation included Basak Onsal Demir, Counsellor for Culture and Tourism at the Turkish Embassy, Cagla Yontem, Director for MICE (Wedding and Incentives) and 30 premier tourism partners.
Addressing the event later, Mr. Gözet said, “Kolkata's rich cultural heritage makes it the perfect launchpad for our 2025 India destination promotion series. The remarkable growth in Indian visitors to Türkiye last year has inspired us to enhance our offerings further. We're seeing increasing interest in our lesser-known destinations beyond Istanbul and Cappadocia, and this year's event will put the spotlight on these hidden gems alongside our iconic locations. Our focus is on creating deeper, more meaningful connections that resonate with the discerning Indian traveller.”
After Kolkata, the roadshow will touch Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad before ending in Mumbai.
