Kakinada: YSRC and TD activists clashed in Nuzvid in Eluru district on Thursday, leading to stab injuries to two persons.
According to Nuzvid circle inspector M.V.S.N. Murthy, a councillor N. Girish belonging to YSRC runs a chicken shop near Gandhi Statue centre. Telugu Desam sympathiser Nukala Sai Kiran also runs a chicken shop there.
On Thursday, they both clashed with chicken knives, leading to injuries. Girish has been admitted to the Government Hospital in Vijayawada, while Sai Kiran is undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Eluru.
Nuzvid DSP G. Lakshmaiah said clashes are not due to politics. He explained that both Girish and Sai Kiran have been running chicken shops since August 2023. They keep clashing due to their business rivalry. A rowdy sheet has also been opened against Girish.
Lakshmaiah said a police picket has been set up in the town to check further clashes.
