UP Man Kills His Wife Over Spending Habits (Representational Image)
Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident from Muzzafar Nagar, a man strangled his wife to death for her big spending habits and suspected an extramarital affair.
Although the incident happened a week before, the man was caught while trying to dump her body, late at night on Wednesday, according to police.
Acting on a tip-off, when the two men were disposing of her body in the river, police arrested the primary accused, Arbaaz on the spot. But his friend was able to escape. Meanwhile, the police recovered the woman's decapitated body which was found in a sack.
The accused admitted to the crime and informed the authorities that he had married Chahat, 21, secretly from his family, eight months before. He said that Chahat was from Uttarakhand's Kotdwar. They were living together secretly in a rented house. Arbaaz also claimed Chahat was a heavy spender and expressed suspicions that she had an extramarital affair. Feeling hurt by this, he confided in his friend Shahrukh about his experience, and the two of them planned her murder.
Arbaaz told Police that he strangled his wife, then slit her throat and cut her palms from her wrists to prevent the body from being recognized. The body was thereafter placed in a sack and thrown into a river by him and Shahrukh.
A day before, they returned to the river to check if the body had sunk, only to discover it floating due to the water hyacinth. They planned to return in the night to continue the disposal of the body, but they were caught in the act.
The bike that the accused rode to dispose of the body has been seized by the police, along with the murder weapon. The body has been sent for post-mortem and an investigation to arrest the other accused is going on.
