Vijayawada: A couple died as their motorbike was hit by a private school bus at Rajiv Gandhi Park under Krishna Lanka police station limits here on Sunday evening. The deceased were Sk Muneer Basha and Sk Zareena; husband and wife. They were residents of Mangalagiri.
Police said the school bus was going towards the RTC bus station from Kanaka Durga flyover. It hit the motorbike from the back, killing both on the spot around 7.30pm. The mishap was caused by a suspected break failure of the school bus.
The bus driver abandoned the bus and fled from the scene. Two cars and a Tata Magic were damaged in the incident. The police have registered a case under sections 304(A) and 279 IPC and launched a probe. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the government hospital for post mortem.
