12.5 lakh voters to decide fate of 48 contestants in Warangal

Warangal: With arrangements for the counting process of Lok Sabha elections in place, around 12.5 lakhs of voters who exercised their franchise in the SC-reserved Warangal parliamentary constituency are going to decide the fate of contestants on June 4. The counting will start at 8 am and Section 144 has been imposed at the counting centre.

As many as 48 contestants including independents and from various parties including Dr Kadiyam Kavya from Congress, Aroori Ramesh from BJP and Dr Marepalli Sudheer Kumar from BRS contested for the LS seat.
Of the total 18,24,466 electors, 12,56,301 voters exercised their voting rights with a poll percentage of 68.86 in the constituency.
Election returning officer and district collector Praveenya, accompanied by the additional collectors Radhika Gupta and Sandhya Rani, DCP Ravinder and DRO Srinivas, inspected the counting centre set up at the Enumamula Market Yard in Warangal on Monday.
The collector said that all arrangements were in place for the counting of votes on a peaceful note with briefing up three-tier security arrangements.
A total of 110 tables were set up for the seven Assembly segments which include Warangal East, Warangal West, Station Ghanpur, Palakurthy, Parkal, Wardhannapet and Bhupalpally under the Warangal parliamentary constituency and with 14 tables in addition in room number 18 for counting of postal ballots, home voting and service votes. The counting of votes will be completed in a total of 127 rounds.
As many as 2,500 personnel including police were deployed for the counting process. Identity cards were issued to counting agents of political parties and polling staff. No person is allowed into the counting centre without an ID card, she added.
Meanwhile, Warangal CP Amber Kishor Jha said that there was no permission for any political parties to take out victory rallies and stringent action would be taken against the violators of the Model Code of Conduct, he warned.
