ACB Conducts Raids in Formula E Race Scam
Hyderabad: The ACB on Tuesday conducted searches at the residences of senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and HMDA former officer B.L.N Reddy and other places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the alleged scam in the Formula E race case.
The ACB has already served notice to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, minister during the time the alleged scam took place, asking him to appear before the agency on January 9. The Enforcement Directorate, which received an email from Rama Rao on Monday seeking time, served notice asking to appear on January 16. Hours after the Telangana High Court dismissed the quash petition filed by BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao, ACB officials, who had been dispatched to different places, conducted the raids on the officials’ residences and offices of a private firm in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Sources said that a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) rank officer and his team conducted searches at IAS officer Arvind Kumar's residence and verified documents and electrical devices, among others. The ACB served a fresh notice to Arvind Kumar, asking to appear for questioning on Wednesday, while B.L.N. Reddy was asked to appear on January 10.
The agency is likely to grill the accused on irregularities in conducting the race, including agreements, funds transfer, approvals from government, clearance from finance department to transfer funds to the UK-based Formula E Operations Limited and others.
ACB officials also convened a meeting with the Banjara Hills law and order assistant commissioner of police and inspector in connection with bandobast arrangements with the key accused appearing before the agency for questioning. The Enforcement Directorate, which has asked Rama Rao to appear for questioning on January 16, also served notices to B.L.N. Reddy to appear on January 8 and Arvind Kumar on January 9.
