Vijayawada: Advisor to government and senior Telugu Desam leader Mohammad Shareef on Tuesday said that the TD-led NDA alliance government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has released ₹45 crore towards payment of pending six-month honorarium to imams and mouzans, as promised during the elections.
Thanking the CM, Shareef charged that during the five years of YSR Congress governance, Muslim minorities had faced numerous hardships, including suspension of the honorarium to imams and mouzans.
He underlined that as soon as Chandrababu Naidu returned to power, he allocated ₹4,376 crore for minorities in the budget, thereby doing justice.

The senior TD leader said while Chandrababu Naidu is known for keeping his promises, former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had betrayed minorities.
Shareef said each imam will receive an honorarium of ₹10,000 every month, while every mouzan will get ₹5,000 per month. He said the Chief Minister’s initiative reaffirms the commitment of Chandrababu Naidu government to stand by the Muslim minorities.
