AP: Jagan backs Amarnath for MLC polls in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: According to sources within the YSRC, party chief and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is encouraging former minister Gudivada Amarnath to run for the MLC elections in Vizag. Despite the party's promise to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital if it came to power, the people of Visakhapatnam did not support the YSRC. The YSRC faced a defeat not only in Visakha but also in the entire North Andhra region. The MLC elections are scheduled for July 12. Jagan Mohan Reddy believes that winning two seats in this election could boost the party's morale a bit. As a result, the party is expected to nominate individuals who are strongly loyal to the party for these seats. The YSRC chief also values strong voices and believes they should be represented in the Council.

After losing the Gajuwaka in elections by a significant margin, Gudivada Amarnath held a press conference and stated, “The party will learn lessons from the defeat and rise again.” No other leader from North Andhra was willing to speak out like Amarnath. Given this context, Jagan Mohan Reddy believes that Amarnath, if elected to the Council, would be the right person to advocate for the party. Vamsikrishna Yadav, who resigned from the YSRC and joined Jana Sena, was successful in winning as an MLA from Visakhapatnam South. In light of this, the party is determined to secure the MLC post by fielding Amarnath in the elections; a victory for him would provide a much-needed boost to the party's morale in Visakhapatnam.
