AP, Telangana Ministers Discuss River Water, Rail Projects for Mutual Benefit

Hyderabad: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao called on AP Chief Minister N. Chandranabu Naidu and discussed the modalities of using river water to address the needs of all regions. They also discussed proposals for railway projects that would benefit both states.

“The transfer of Godavari water from Pattiseema to Prakasam barrage and from there to Pulichintala and Nagarjunasagar is critical for the future. The link between Pattiseema and Pulichintala will help in addressing the water woes of Rayalaseema and be useful to Telangana," Nageswara Rao said.

He said that if the Sattupalli-Kovur and Penuballi-Kondapalli railway lines were completed it would benefit both the states. He pointed out that it would be useful in transporting coal. “The two states can progress together by cooperation. The experience of Chandrababu Naidu will come in handy in resolving water disputes between the states,” he said.

The minister is said to have further impressed on the need to transfer five gram panchayats adjoining Bhadrachalam back to Telangana.
