BJP, Congress conspiring to privatise SCCL: Koppula

Karimnagar: The BJP and Congress which came to power at the Centre and in the state respectively, were making conspiracy for privatising the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), alleged former minister Koppula Eshwar of BRS on Sunday.

Speaking to the media in Karimnagar, he said that after becoming a Union minister, everyone thought that Kishan Reddy would save the Singareni company which was providing employment to lakhs of poor and Dalit families in the state.
Though the company was running with the partnership of both the state and Central governments, it was the former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who brought the company into profit, he said.
He questioned why the governments were trying to privatise SCCL which was reaping profits. When Revanth Reddy was the PCC chief before the formation of the Congress government in the state, he opposed the auctioning of the Singareni coal mine blocks and had written a letter to the Centre against it. But now, after becoming Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy was plotting a conspiracy by joining hands with Narendra Modi to auction the coal mines and privatise the company.
Instead of opposing the auction, which was attended by state deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka which exposed the dual standards of the Congress, he said.
Before going to the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the people of Telangana that the BJP would not allow to privatise the SCCL, but after coming to power for the third time, he forgot his promise, he pointed out.
“By investing hundreds of crores of rupees, the management of the SCCL found new coal mine stores. Privatising such a company is unjust. It will also affect the people belonging to Dalit communities and poor background as they would lose reservations in its employment,” he added.
