BJP Criticizes Government Over Textbook Error, Education Ministry Vacancies

Hyderabad: BJP Assembly floor leader A. Maheshwar Reddy said reprinting 20 lakh text books for an error would be a huge burden on the exchequer. Negligence of officials had led to the distribution books listing K. Chandrashekar Rao as Chief Minister, he said.

Speaking in Delhi, he asked the government to collect the expenditure for the reprint from the officials instead of burdening the exchequer. He also demanded action against the officials responsible for it.

He said that Congress government was not acting sincerely to fulfill its poll promises even after six months and was extending deadlines. The AP government had cleared the hike in social welfare pensions on the first day, he pointed out.

Speaking to newsmen in Hyderabad, BJP official spokesperson Rani Rudrama said that the state government had a full-time excise minister but not an education minister. There were no district education officers in 26 districts; there was no deputy education officer though 62 ere allocated. The state had mandal education officers for only 17 out of 617 mandals.

Rani Rudrama pointed out that the state government had issued a notification for recruitment of 11,000 teachers though 22,000 posts are vacant in government high schools. She questioned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for retaining the education ministry with him, when he did not have the time to spare for education.
