Chinese Diplomat Urges Boost to India-China Ties

Kolkata: A Chinese diplomat has called for joint promotion of “friendship” between his country and India.
“2025 marks the seventy-fifth (75th) anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. Let us look forward to the future together, implement the important consensus of the two leaders, and jointly to promote China-India friendship!” said acting Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Qin Yong on Tuesday evening.
He was speaking at the reception of the Chinese New Year, that falls on January 29, in the city. Mr Yong pointed out, “The past 2024 is a critical year for China-India relations to return. President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Modi, and reached important common understandings on improving bilateral relations. China-India relations restarted and set off again.”
He added, “China-India economic and trade cooperation continues to deepen, while people-to-people and cultural exchanges flourishing. We jointly commemorated the 100th anniversary of Tagore's visit to China. Scholars, artists, Buddhist Bhikkhus and youth representatives from East India visited China successively. Chinese scholars also came to West Bengal to for the first time after the pandemic, to experience the Durga Puja. The exchange and mutual learning of our two civilizations have generated new sparks.”
