Coastal Karnataka Residents Return Home as Rains Recede
Karwar: With rain receding in the coastal Karnataka region on Saturday, people who were sheltered in relief centers have begun returning to their homes.
While over 200 people were in relief centers on Thursday and Friday, the number decreased to 26 on Saturday.
Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmipriya K assured that all necessary facilities, including food, shelter, and medical care, would continue to be provided to those still in the centers.
The water levels in the catchment areas of the Kali River, upstream of the Kadra Dam, have also receded, falling below the limit set by the district administration.
In the past 24 hours, three houses were partially damaged in the Uttara Kannada district. Similarly, in Udupi district, four houses were partially damaged, with two each in Karkala and Kundapur Taluks.
In Dakshina Kannada district, three houses sustained partial damage, and there was significant damage to infrastructure, including 106 electricity poles and 5.30 km of supply lines.
