Khammam: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao on Monday instructed officials to expedite link canal works of Sitarama and Nagarjunasagar project canals and complete it by the month-end.
Along with the district collector Muzammil Khan and Khammam police commissioner Sunil Dutt, the minister inspected the link canal works at Himam Nagar in Enukur mandal.
He said that the link canal would help in providing irrigation facility to 1.5 lakh acres of ayacut of NS canal by drawing Godavari water from Sitarama project water levels are low in Nagarjuna Sagar project.
He assured that justice would be done to all farmers, whose lands have been acquired for the canal. He asked officials of irrigation department to bring to the notice of the district collector issues pertaining to land acquisition.
Chief engineer of irrigation Srinivas Reddy was also present on the occasion.
