Vijayawada: A 33-year-old woman died by suicide in Vuyyuru in Penamaluru of Krishna district. Police identified the victim as Gunja Lakshmi, a resident of Vuyyuru and working in the administration department in Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.
According to Vuyyuru sub-inspector A. Ganesh Kumar, Lakshmi was working at Loyola College while her husband works as electrician in the same college had borrowed around Rs 2.10 lakh from several students in the college. She had repaid some Rs 70,000 and still had to repay the remaining Rs 1.40 lakh.
The sub-inspector said a suicide note was found in her purse, blaming Loyola college principal Kishore, accountant Vijaya Lakshmi, and Simhachalam as the reasons for her death. “The deceased took the extreme step after the college principal and management humiliated her over the pending money she had to pay to the students from whom she borrowed, despite her assurances to repay the money without fail,” the sub-inspector said.
A case under Section 174 CrPC, suspicious death has been registered and the police recovered the suicide note. An investigation is ongoing.
