5 held for consuming liquor at Chanchalguda graveyard
Hyderabad:The southeast zone task force arrested five persons who were consuming liquor at the Sultan Daira graveyard at Chanchalguda. On Tuesday, the police arrested Kalanga Chandu, a student, and Mohammed Sadiq, a labourer for consuming ganja on the footpath of the graveyard.
Those arrested for consuming liquor, arrested on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, were two persons named Md Hafeez, Md Yousuf, Imran Bin Alam, and Md. Hameed. All of them were handed over to the Madannapet police
Deccan Chronicle on November 11 had published a report, `Drug addicts rule roads after sunset,’ on people using the graveyard and parked buses to consume ganja and liquor.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of task force additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao and inspector K.N. Prasad Verma. "We have identified other areas where anti-social elements are creating a nuisance," said Srinivasa Rao.
Consumption of ganja and liquor is a common practice in the private buses parked on the road connecting the Dabeerpura road overbridge from the Chanchalguda Central Prison crossroads. The southeast zone task force with the assistance of traffic police removed these buses from the road on Tuesday.
