Hyderabad:A 53-year-old man died by suicide in Quthbullapur, within the Jeedimetla police station limits in Hyderabad. The incident came to light after the hospital to which he was taken, contacted the police.
Jeedimetla circle inspector identified the deceased as Baviri Ramu, a mason, addicted to alcohol. According to the police, Ramu often returned home intoxicated and physically assaulted his wife. Approximately 15 days before the incident, following another domestic quarrel, Ramu moved out of the family home and rented a room near a dairy in Quthbullapur.
On August 19, around 9 am, Ramu's son, Baviri Sai Kumar, who was in Odisha for a relative’s wedding, received a call from a neighbour informing him that his father had jumped into a water tank at around 8.30 am. The family immediately returned to Hyderabad, where they confirmed Ramu’s death. A video of the incident later circulated on social media.
Ramu’s body was shifted to Gandhi Mortuary, and a case has been registered under Section 194 of the BNSS.
