8 arrested for murder of rowdy sheeter
The Rein Bazaar police on Tuesday arrested eight persons for the murder of 27-year-old rowdy-sheeter Mohammed Masiuddin with the arrest of eight assailants on Tuesday.

Hyderabad:The Rein Bazaar police on Tuesday arrested eight persons for the murder of 27-year-old rowdy-sheeter Mohammed Masiuddin with the arrest of eight assailants on Tuesday. The gang had intercepted Masiuddin, scheduled to get married on April 17, early on Monday morning near the Dabeerpura foot overbridge and stabbed him to death.
According to Rein Bazaar station house officer L. Ramesh Naik, police recovered four knives used in the murder, which had been buried at Bada Kabrastan, Dabeerpura. Four motorcycles used in the crime were also seized.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Pasha Jeelani alias Sher, Mohammed Omer Khan, Mohammed Arif Khan, Mohammed Ghouse Uddin alias Sajji, Mohammed Tabrez, Syed Ibrahim, Syed Basheer, and Mohammed Abubakar.
The accused revealed that the motive stemmed from an incident on March 23, during the month of Ramzan. Masiuddin allegedly demanded `20,000 from Omer Khan, who was then selling watermelons. When Omer refused, Masiuddin reportedly threatened to kill him. Omer and his associates, who were reportedly harassed multiple times by Masiuddin, got together and murdered Masiuddin.
All the accused have been produced before the court for judicial remand and the investigation is ongoing,” said south zone DCP, DD, Swetha Reddy.
Extrened offender spotted, booked by Meerpet police
Hyderabad:Meerpet police have registered a fresh case against Dasari Surender alias Suri, who was recently externed by the Rachakonda commissioner. According to the police, despite a ban on his presence in the Rachakonda commissionerate area, a constable spotted Surender in Nandanavanam under the Meerpet police limits.
Police detained Srinivas and served him with notices for unlawfully re-entering the commissionerate limits. An official said that Surender has since left for Warangal and the externment order remains in effect for six months. Surender has been facing several serious charges, including murder registered at the Meerpet police station, as well as other cases under the Pocso Act, rape and property-related crimes.
Harassment case on husband, in-laws over dowry demands
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old woman filed a harassment complaint against her husband and in-laws at the Keesara police station, alleging that continuous abuse and pressure to get dowry had started weeks after she married the love of her life.
According to police, the victim, a private employee from Ambedkarnagar, married Malle Akash, 22, in June 2024. As Akash's family disapproved of the marriage, the couple began living separately. Within a few weeks, Akash allegedly turned abusive under his parents’ influence. He began abusing her and demanded that she bring dowry to be accepted into the family.
The in-laws reportedly took Akash to their native place in Andhra Pradesh and said the couple would be reunited if she brought dowry. The woman approached her parents, who gave her five grams of gold earrings and a ring. Her husband allegedly took the jewellery, pawned it for money and continued the harassment.
Unemployed, Akash reportedly pawned her office laptop several times. Each time, the victim had to recover it by paying out of pocket. As the abuse escalated to physical violence, the woman approached the police. A case has been registered against Akash and his parents under relevant sections of the law.
3 booked for liquor sale on Hanuman Jayanti
Hyderabad: Saroornagar and Vanasthalipuram police booked three persons in two instances for illegally selling liquor on Hanuman jayanti, a dry day.
According to police, the Saroornagar team received a tip-off about illegal liquor sales and conducted a raid during which they seized 6.7 litres of liquor from G. Parushuram and B. Sandeep. The duo, who were detained, revealed they had purchased the liquor from one Mohammad Nazeer.
In a separate incident, Vanasthalipuram police raided a kirana store where the owner, N. Vardhan Kumar, was found selling alcohol. Police seized 33 bottles of alcohol from the store and also confiscated the premises used for the illegal activity.
Cyber Crooks Dupe Woman of Rs 1.35L
Hyderabad:Cyber fraudsters posing as affiliates of a hotel major duped a 33-year-old home-maker of `1,35,199 under the pretext of offering a part-time job.
According to the city cybercrime unit ACP R.G. Siva Maruthi, the victim received a message offering her a part-time role to post five-star hotel reviews with daily payments ranging from `2,000 to `8,000, based on tasks completed.
After completing the first task, she received `203. She was lured into doing more tasks and then asked to make “prepayment” deposits to unlock higher earnings. She was added to a so-called “VIP group” where fake screenshots of high earnings were shared.
She was instructed to transfer money to multiple bank accounts provided by the fraudsters. She continued completing tasks, unaware of how much she was losing.
“She was digitally hypnotised. By the time she realised the fraud, she had lost Rs 1,35,199,” said CCCU DCP Dara Kavitha.
Ameenpur Residents Complain Against Faheem for Blackmailing
Hyderabad:The Ameenpur Welfare Association on Tuesday submitted a written complaint to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against Telangana Foods chairman M.A. Faheem, accusing him of extorting large sums of money by threatening them that he would unleash HYDRAA against them.
The association stated that Faheem was intimidating them by using the names of the Chief Minister, ministers Sridhar Babu, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, TPCC chief B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and former MLA Jayaprakash ‘Jagga’ Reddy.
The association members said that the residents were living in a constant fear of harassment, and requested the Chief Minister to take action against Faheem.
HYDRAA commissioner A. V. Ranganath, responding to social media posts on the letter, said he had ordered an investigation into the issue, and would release the facts within 2 or 3 days.
On the other hand, Faheem lodged a complaint with ACP, cybercrimes, stating that defamatory and false allegations were being made against him on online platforms and social media pages. He said that the posts are aimed at damaging his reputation and integrity, and are causing harm to the reputation of Telangana Foods. He requested the cops to take action against the pages.
HYDRAA commissioner Ranganath further stated that Faheem spoke to him and requested a detailed inquiry into the situation to find out the truth.
Aghori Mata Booked for Threatening, Extortion
Hyderabad:The Mokila police registered a case against a self-proclaimed ‘Aghori mata’ for allegedly threatening and extorting money from a movie producer on Tuesday. According to Mokila inspector Veera Babu, the accused has been identified as Shiva Vishnu Brahma Alluri, popularly known as Aghori mata. The two came into contact through YouTube around six months ago.
After two months of interaction, she began visiting the complainant’s house in Shankarpally. In January, the producer shared some personal and family issues with Aghori mata. She convinced the complainant that the problems could be resolved by performing a special puja.
For this, the complainant transferred `5 lakh to her account on March 4. After this, Aghori mata took the complainant to a farmhouse in Ujjain to perform the puja. A day after arriving, she allegedly demanded another `5 lakh. She said that if the money was not paid, the puja would be stopped and the complainant’s life would be destroyed.
Fearing harm, the complainant transferred another `5 lakh. Claiming the puja was complete, both of them returned to Hyderabad. The following day, the accused demanded yet another `5 lakh. She threatened the complainant saying that she knew everything about her family and would kill them using mantras if the money was not paid. Mata also claimed to possess harmful weapons to harm the family physically.
After repeated threats, the complainant and her husband blocked the accused’s number. However, the harassment continued through calls from unknown numbers. The producer then filed a complaint with the Mokila police. A case was registered under the BNS and investigation is underway.
Farmer Hacked to Death Over Son’s Affair
Hyderabad:A 57-year-old farmer was chased and hacked to death near a brick kiln in Nagarkurnool district, on Tuesday, triggering panic in the village. The victim, Eeraiah, from Nadimpally in Achampet mandal, was allegedly murdered over his son’s relationship with a married woman.
According to the police, Eeraiah’s son, Parameswar, had eloped with the woman recently but returned after village elders intervened and resolved the matter. The woman, a mother of two, was sent back to her husband’s home.
Her family members warned Parameswar of serious consequences if he continued to contact her. Despite the warnings, he resumed calling her, Following this, her husband and two brothers received a tip-off that Eeraiah was passing by a brick kiln, chased and attacked him with an axe, police said.
Investigations revealed that Parameswar had grown close to the woman while visiting her house to meet her brother, a friend. Parameswar eventually eloped with her, leading to tensions with her family. Police said the murder was a fallout of this prolonged conflict, and a manhunt has been launched to trace the accused.
