872 kg of Seized Drugs Destroyed in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The State Anti Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB), Cyberabad police and the drug disposal committee on Tuesday destroyed 872 kg of drugs worth Rs 2,25,93,285 that was seized in 37 cases in the city. Destroyed were 845.281 kg of ganja, three ganja plants weighing 61 grams, 26.819 kg of ganja chocolates, 7.5 ml of hashish oil, 9.168 grams of MDMA and 502 grams of alprazolam.

Hyderabad: Man Caught with Gold and Mobile Worth ₹4.5 Lakh at Railway Station

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad railway police on Tuesday apprehended Yousuf Ghori, 21. for involvement in theft at Platform No. 4 of the station at 9 am on Tuesday. He was found in possession of a mobile phone and gold ornaments worth `4.5 lakh. Police said he had a previous case of theft.

Champapet Resident Loses ₹45 Lakh to Online Loan Scam

Hyderabad:A resident of Champapet fell victim lost `45 lakh to an online scam offering loans at low interest rates. The victim, a 63-year-old convention hall manager, was responding to an advertisement on social media.

A person claiming to represent a finance company offered a loan of up to `10 lakh at 8 per cent interest. When the victim agreed, the scamster took his ID papers and bank details. The agent then began demanding a series of payments under various heads till the victim paid a total of `45 lakh in instalments.

With no sight of the loan, the victim approached the Rachakonda cybercrime police.

Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation at DPS Nacharam

Hyderabad:The Delhi Public School (DPS) in Nacharam was hit by a bomb threat in an email on Tuesday. The management emptied out the school and called the police.

The Nacharam police, along with six teams including a bomb disposal squad and the dog squad, teams combed the premises and found that it was a hoax call. The school alter resumed its regular activities.

The IP address of the email could not be traced during the investigation and the IT and the cybercrime wings were trying to track down the sender. This is the second time the school by a bomb threat.


Secunderabad Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Assault on Five-Year-Old

Hyderabad:Special Sessions Court Judge B. Pushpalatha for Pocso Act cases sentenced Lingala Deepak, 32, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) on Tuesday for the sexual assault on a five-year-old girl. The court imposed fine of ₹20,000 and ordered a compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim.

The incident took place on November 13, 2023, in Secunderabad, when the victim’s mother was away at work. On returning, she found her daughter missing. A neighbour told the mother about a child crying in an adjacent building. On going there, she found her daughter bleeding on the staircase. After the child told her what happened, the mother lodged a complaint with the Mahankali police.

“The accused fled on seeing the victim’s mother,” said K. Pratap Reddy, special public prosecutor. “Medical evidence has proved his guilt in the court.”


Four Arrested for Duping Job Seekers

Hyderabad:The north zone task force and Marredpally police arrested four fraudsters for cheating 13 job aspirants of `26.25 lakh. The accused were identified as Gaddapolla Pavan Kumar, Boga Revanth, Bapatu Rajiv Reddy and Sakkinala Sudheer (39).

Task force DCP Y.V.S Sudheendra said police had seized `5.67 lakh from the gang who issued fake offer letters from reputed firms to cheat the job-seekers.

The main accused impersonated as the HR manager, while the rest of the gang, formed last year, used to direct the job-seekers to him.
