Hyderabad: Balapur police who are investigating the murder of rowdysheeter Khaja Riazuddin on Friday, said that the assailants, who remain unidentified so far, stabbed him after failing to shooting him dead. Police said the bullet from the country-made weapon hit Riazuddin in the chest instead of the head.
When he tried to fight back and grabbed one of the assailants, the gang stabbed him to death, police sources said according to the post-mortem report. The empty bullet shell has been sent for forensic analysis.
Riazuddin was involved in three murders, four attempt-to-murder cases and extortion bids. “We strongly suspect it is a murder for retaliation, but we are probing into all angles,” a police officer said.
Police are examining Riazuddin’s mobile phone and the Rachakonda IT team is using technology to track the assailants. Police teams are questioning other rowdysheeters and those known to deal with illegal weapons. Seventeen suspects have been reportedly detained for questioning.
