DRI Hyderabad Seizes 3.5kg Smuggled Gold Worth ₹2.51 Cr
DRI Hyderabad arrests three for smuggling 3577 grams of gold worth ₹2.51 crore, concealed in a car from Chennai to Bidar
Hyderabad: Officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad, arrested three persons for trying to smuggle gold into Bidar, Karnataka on Thursday. Over 3.5 kg of gold worth `2.51 crore was seized from the accused.
Based on a tip-off, officials intercepted the three persons' vehicle at Panthangi toll plaza in Choutuppal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
Upon questioning, the accused said they were going to Bidar from Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
They had concealed the gold in a specially made cavity below the handbrake. The gold was found in three packets wrapped in brown tape, containing five 24-carat gold bars.
