Family of Deceased Girl Alleges Foul Play
Hyderabad:An 18-year-old engineering student from Marri Laxman Reddy Institute of Technology and Management died by suicide in her hostel room on Friday. Sravani, hailing from Vikarabad’s Dharur, was pursuing her first year in engineering, the Dundigal police said.
Sravani’s parents and family members held a protest outside the college campus, alleging that their daughter was murdered, and the incident was staged to appear as a suicide.
According to initial reports, the hostel staff found the girl’s body in her room and took her to the Malla Reddy Hospital. Family members alleged that they were not informed before they took Sravani’s body to the hospital, and demanded a thorough investigation.
“We do not accept that our daughter would take her own life. She was the topper of her school. Even if there is a small problem, she would tell us. They killed her and staged it as suicide,” Sravani’s family members said at MLRITM.
Dundigal police have registered a case and are conducting an inquiry.
