Hyderabad man detained for secretly filming wife with spy cameras to blackmail her into withdrawing a domestic violence case

Hyderabad: Police have detained a man for breaching the privacy of his wife by installing spy cameras in their home, filming her and using the footage to blackmail her to withdraw a domestic violence case she had filed against him. The victim has alleged in her police complaint that her in-laws were part of this plan.
“We have registered a case under the BNS Act and the IT Act, and the accused has been taken into custody," said Bowenpally sub-inspector A. Shiva Shankar. According to the Bowenpally police, the accused installed spy cameras disguised as mosquito repellents in the bedroom and bathroom of their residence in New Bowenpally and recorded the private moments of his 39-year-old wife for the past month.
The victim said in her complaint that he also installed cameras in her car.
The victim discovered the cameras after hearing unusual noises from another room, where her husband was watching the recordings linked to his mobile device. After confirming her suspicions with a relative, she filed the complaint about the breach of privacy and blackmail. Police inspected the house and found the cameras, which they deactivated and seized. The victim also alleged that her husband’s parents were complicit in the plan.
The man accused the victim of physically harassing his elderly parents and claimed that he had installed the cameras to monitor her.
