Interstate burglar apprehended in Tirupati; ₹6 lakh recovered
Tirupati:Tirupati police on Friday arrested an interstate burglar, identified as Guruvilla Appala Naidu (29) from Somarajupalli village in Prakasam district. The arrest comes after the theft of ₹8 lakh from a Western Union Money Transfer office in Tirupati on November 15.
The burglary occurred in broad daylight when the office owner locked the premises and stepped out for lunch. Acting on the complaint, the Tirupati Central Crime Station police, under the direction of district SP L. Subba Rayudu and additional SP Nagabhushana Rao, launched an investigation.
Following technical lead, the police apprehended the accused near Sai Nirmala Kalyana Mandapam on Friday. Police recovered ₹6 lakh and a screwdriver used in the crime. Appala Naidu has a history of 18 theft cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Commending the team’s efforts, the SP announced cash rewards for the investigating officers.
