Man gets 20-year-jail for raping 6-year-old girl
Vijayawada:Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) in Ongole has sentenced an accused to 20 years’ imprisonment and fined him ₹10,000. Additionally, the court ordered the state government to provide ₹7 lakh compensation to the victim.
According to the police, Duddu Chinnabbai, 57, a resident of SC Colony at Santharavuru village in Chinaganjam mandal sexually assaulted a six-year-minor girl of the same village on March 20, 2018 after taking her to a secluded place.
Based on a complaint on March 22, 2018, Chinaganjam police booked a case under Section 376 of IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The then Chirala sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) V. Srinivasa Rao investigated the case, arrested and charge-sheeted the accused.
Ongole Special POCSO Court Judge T. Raja Venkatadri pronounced the verdict on Wednesday after finding the accused guilty of the crime.
Bapatla superintendent of police Tushar Dudi commended public prosecutor Y. Venkateswarulu and court police constable G. Nageswara Rao for ensuring conviction of the accused.
