Visakhapatnam:The special POCSO Court in Visakhapatnam convicted a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of ₹10,000 for raping his 14-year-old niece. The court asked the government to give compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim.
The police said the accused Gudla Venkata Ramana went to the victim’s house in 2023 and he was told she went to the grocery shop. He went there and forcibly took her to the outskirts of Peda Gantyada in Visakhapatnam city and raped her.
The New Port police station registered a case under various sections of POCSO and filed a charge sheet in the court. After the trial, the judge Anandi pronounced the judgement on his conviction.
