Police Hunt for Duo Who Scammed 50 People of Rs 2.5 Crore with Fake IAF Jobs
Hyderabad: Pet Basheerabad police are on the look-out for one Ketawat Santosh and Praveen, who collected Rs 2.5 crore from 50 persons by promising them jobs in the Indian Air Force and escaped. The fraud came to light when the victims realised they had been given fake hall tickets and certificates.
Each of the victims had paid between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh to the duo over the past two years. Santosh and Praveen made them believe that he was an Air Force officer who could secure them employment. One of the victims, Rajesh Kumar, said, "I trusted Santosh because he seemed genuine. I gave him my savings, hoping to get a job in the IAF. Now I am left with nothing.”
The police have confirmed that more than 10 victims have come forward so far, and an investigation is underway
Economic offence wing (EOW) inspector K. Vijaya Vardhan said, “We have registered a case against Santosh and are gathering information. According to the complainants, Praveen who posed as an IAF officer played a major role in luring the victims.
Praveen work a fake IAF uniform to persuade the targets and claimed to have special access to recruitment personnel which would ease the selection process. “He assured me that he could secure us jobs without the usual competitive exams and procedures. He met me at Kompally first and took an advance Rs 2 lakh,” said another victim.
