Speeding Lorry Claims 3 Lives at Nalgonda Urs

Nalgonda: A speeding lorry killed three people on the spot at Hajrat Hafeez Mohammed Durwesh Khadar Shavali Dargah in Devarakonda early on Friday.
The victims were identified as sweet shop owner Mohammed Haji Miya, 56, of Thatokole, Mohammed Abdul Khader, 23, of Thanur in Nagarkurnool district, and Mohammed Nabeena, 24, of Erraram of Dinbdi mandal in Nalgonda district. The accident occurred around 6.30 am on the third day of the seven-day Urs celebrations.
The lorry struck devotees Abdul Khader and Nabeena near a wall, which collapsed and trapped their bodies under the debris, and then rammed into Haji Miya’s temporary sweet shop set up for the Urs.
Police rushed to the scene, retrieved the bodies from cinder blocks, and sent them for autopsy at Devarakonda Area Hospital. Former MLA Ramavath Ravindra Kumar Naik visited the hospital, consoled the families, and requested ₹20 lakh ex gratia for each victim’s family.
