Sridhar Babu: TG will ensure severe punishment to accused in minor rape
Karimnagar: After visiting the crime spot where a six-year-old girl child was raped, the IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu assured that the accused would be punished severely as per the law, and necessary steps were being taken in that direction.
Accompanied by the panchayat raj minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, MP Gaddam Vamshi Krishna, MLAs Vijaya Ramana Rao and Makkan Singh Raj Tagore, the IT and industries minister Sridhar Babu inspected the crime spot where the incident had taken place. The gruesome crime took place at Mamatha Industries at Katnapalli village in Sultanabad mandal of Peddapalli district on Sunday.
Speaking further, the minister said that the police swung into action, after lodging of the “missing complaint” by the victim’s parents — and arrested the accused, a migrant worker from Bihar. But unfortunately, within an hour of the heinous crime, the child had died.
“To get to the bottom of the case, I along with the MP and MLAs, visited the crime spot and consoled the family members of the victim,” said Sridhar Babu, adding that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had expressed grief and shock over the incident and assured that necessary assistance would be provided to the family members of the victim.
Taking a serious note of the incident, the Telangana government will ensure timely submission of evidence in the fast-track court and severe punishment to the accused as per the law, he added.
Later, the ministers convened a review meeting at the Ramagundam police commissionerate along with the district collector Koya Sri Harsha and the police commissioner M. Srinivas.
Minister Seethakka said that those habituated to taking drugs, ganja and other substance abuse, were found indulging in the anti-social activities and other heinous crimes. “The state government is committed to keep tabs on the illegal selling, consumption and transportation of drugs and ganja which are detrimental to individuals’ health as well as society,” she said.
To contain repeat of such incidents, the police officials should conduct background checks and collect data of domestic help, migrant labourers and the workers working in various industries, she ordered.
On the other, the management of the rice mill came forward to extend financial assistance of Rs 5.5 lakh to the victim’s kin, besides, minister Sridhar Babu also assured of sanctioning Rs 2.5 lakh on behalf of the state government.
