Tirupati:A student drowned while attempting to save his friends at Mamandur waterfalls, Renigunta mandal of Tirupati district, on Friday. The group, consisting of seven final-year degree students from S.V. Arts College in Tirupati, had gone on an outing to the waterfalls.
According to sources, two students got caught in the water and began to drown. Hemadri (21), a resident of Nallapureddypalli in Kadapa district, tried to rescue them. Despite successfully bringing his friends to safety, Hemadri lost his life when he himself got submerged in the deep waters.
His friends, unable to risk their own safety, were unable to assist him. Police and expert swimmers later retrieved Hemadri’s body from the water. A case has been registered at the local police station, and further investigation is underway.
