TGMC Cracks Down on Unqualified Practitioners
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) inspection teams conducted inspections in Trimulgherry and Nagole, leading to the unearthing of several cases of quackery and the filing of two FIRs. So far, 400 FIRs and 50 arrests have taken place across the state.
At Sri Sai Clinic, Trimulgherry, an unqualified practitioner was found administering IV fluids and antibiotic injections. Dr Banothu Nagaraju Naik, who holds a degree equivalent to MBBS from China, was found operating with a fraudulent 'MD' title. Registered with the AP Medical Council, he had not obtained registration with the Telangana Medical Council.
At Sundar’s Clinic, an individual was found illegally administering IV antibiotics and steroids. In Nagole, Dr A.S. Jyoti, a dentist, was caught performing dermatology procedures such as cosmetic treatments and hair transplants.
TGMC vice-chairman Dr G. Srinivas said that FIRs were being filed under of the National Medical Commission Act for unauthorised medical practices. Notices have been issued to individuals misrepresenting their qualifications.
