Kerala Assembly unanimously condemns NEET, NET exam irregularities, urging central government action to address candidates' grievances

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning the irregularities in NEET, NET and entrance exams conducted by the National Testing Agency.

The resolution called upon the Central government to initiate immediate measures to redress the grievances of the candidates who have been affected badly. Both the CPM led LDF and the Congress led UDF were unanimous in stating that the recent irregularities in NEET UG and UGC NET exams have put a big question mark about the competence and credibility of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in conducting such important entrance exams.

CPM MLA M Vijin who raised the matter in the house, held the central government responsible for the irregularities in the NEET exams. The NEET results were declared on June 4, the day of counting of the Lok Sabha polls, to divert the people's attention from the grave irregularities,he alleged and added that it was done at the behest of the central government.

The opposition UDF members backed the concerns raised by the LDF MLA and blamed central government for the irregularities.

Higher Education Minister R Bindu moved the resolution condemning the functioning of the NTA and the support being extended to the agency by the central government.

She asked the centre to resolve the greivences of the candidates who took the NEET and NET exams.

During the course of discussion Congress MLA P C Vishnunadh demanded that the resolution should also incorporate the demand for allowing the states to conduct the entrance exams henceforth.

The LDF however said such a resolution can be taken up later.
