Was the Attack Real or Acting?: Nitesh Rane on Saif Ali Khan Incident

Pune: Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has sparked controversy with remarks questioning the authenticity of the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Speaking at a rally in Pune, Rane suggested that the actor might have been acting rather than genuinely injured.

"I doubted whether he had been stabbed or was just acting. He was dancing when discharged from the hospital," Rane said, referring to Saif's release from Lilavati Hospital after the incident.

The BJP leader also criticized Bangladeshi immigrants in Mumbai, alleging they were behind the attack, and compared Saif Ali Khan to "garbage that should be taken away." The intruder, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, reportedly entered Saif’s home to steal and demanded ₹1 crore for his escape to Bangladesh.

Rane further accused opposition leaders Supriya Sule and Jitendra Awhad of selective concern, claiming they only speak out for celebrities like Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, while ignoring issues involving Hindu actors.

Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also questioned the nature of the attack, expressing doubts about Saif’s quick recovery and calling for transparency from the actor's family.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar dismissed the remarks, stating that the police had clarified the case, and the accused was already in custody.
